citizens, regardless of where the business operates, or where the defendants reside,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Mythili Raman. Most of the gamblers who used the service were in the United States, authorities said.
A federal grand jury in Oklahoma City indicts 34 individuals and 23 business entities
Prosecutors say the FBI and IRS worked on the case for several years
The operation was first run out of Costa Rica, then from Panama City, Panama
Authorities said if convicted the defendants face up to 20 years in prison for racketeering, up to 20 years for conspiring to commit money laundering, up to ten years for money laundering and up to five years for operating an illegal gambling business.
The chief organizer of the sports gambling operation is identified as Bartice “Luke” King, who opened MVP Sports in 2002 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Attorney Sanford Coats in Oklahoma City said the FBI and IRS had been working on the case for several years.
A major online sports betting operation known as Legendz Sports, which allegedly took in more than $1 billion in illegal sports bets, has been busted, and dozens of individuals and related businesses have been indicted, the Justice Department announced Wednesday.
“Today’s charges demonstrate that we are as determined as ever to hold accountable those involved in facilitating illegal online gambling by U.S. King, 46, is a legal resident of Spring, Texas.
. The following year he moved the operation to Panama and renamed it Legendz, the indictment says. Government prosecutors said that a federal grand jury seated in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, returned indictments against 34 individuals associated with Legendz and 23 business entities that helped facilitate the operation.
The operation was first run out of Costa Rica, and then from Panama City, Panama, according to the indictment.
Prosecutors said they will seek forfeiture of real estate, bank accounts, a Sabreliner aircraft, and a variety of financial instruments connected to the operation.
If you?re winning, the 2% per wager automatically increases as your bankroll increases. If you bet 3 teams straight action and only win 2 of the 3, you?ve just made money. Since you?re reading this, you?re probably part of that majority. Secondly, never wager more than 2% of your total bankroll on any single wager. Unexplainably, wins and losses often times run in streaks, so slowly increase your bets on a hot streak and back off on cold streaks. Most people just don’t have the time to properly study things like past statistics, line moves, trends, angles, valuable lines, inflated numbers, and much, much more. The payoff odds and point spreads are not carved in stone throughout the industry, and on any given day, they can vary greatly between different shops. For example, if you live in California and become an expert on the PAC 10, you can increase your chances of winning by focusing on just your niche.
People all over the world love to bet on sports. Hook them all together in a parlay and you must win all 3, or you?re sunk. Conversely, if you?re on a losing streak and the bankroll goes down, the size of your bets will decrease accordingly. Over the course of a year, that ?, 1, or even 2 point difference will come into play many times, and trust me?it will add up to a lot of money.
Rule #6 ? Seek a Professional – There is a wealth of valuable information available on the Internet but you have to take the time to do proper and thorough research. That gives you an automatic advantage over the bookie, so use it to the fullest extent. If betting on sports is more than just a recreational pastime, or if you just don?t have the time or resources for Rule #5, seriously consider employing the services of a professional sports handicapper. Stick with 2% and never double up and chase lost money.
Rule #3 ? Spend Some Time Shopping ? This can be compared to shopping for a new car or even for groceries. If you?re sick, you go see a doctor. Whichever group you fall into, sports wagering must be treated the same as any other financial investment. Rule #5 ? Perform Due Diligence – As a bettor, you normally have the opportunity to do research well in advance of having to make that final decision on a wager. After checking several well-established and solid options, decide on 2 or 3 of them, and then divide and deposit your initial bankroll equally amongst each one. If you set aside $1,000 for gambling, your individual bets should be in the $20 range and no more. If it were really possible for anyone to consistently pick 3 out of 3, parlays (and teasers) wouldn?t be offered by the sports books. It?s a proposition for losers only, so don?t do it.. To be successful at anything, your mind needs to be 100% clear and functional. Yes, you can bet a 3-team parlay, and if you win, it normally pays in the vicinity of 6 to 1 in football and basketball. Stick to straight action only. While some do it just for recreation or to make watching a TV game more exciting, there are others who will always wager on their favorite team or player, period. Then, before making your wager(s), check each book and always take the best number on your particular event. Never wager more than you can afford to lose, so be honest with yourself on what you can comfortably set aside for recreation or otherwise. If you?re serious about winning more bets than you lose, you should listen to a professional.
Whether you?re a recreational player or actually doing it solely for a profit, may you always have more winners than losers, and always remember to have a lot of fun along the way, but stick to the rules.
Rule #2 ? Never Gamble Under the Influence ? To coin a phrase, ?Speak when you?re drunk and you?ll probably make the biggest speech you?ll ever live to regret.? The same sensible theory applies to betting on sports. Always look for the best prices or the best numbers. Research several sports books thoroughly and compare the numbers. One of the best ways to win at sports wagering is to maybe find your own special niche and then follow it closely. To be done properly (and profitably), here are some very crucial rules one must follow.
Rule #1 ? Use Proper Money Management ? This rule is the one that is most neglected and explains why Vegas keeps on building all of those multi-billion dollar casinos. Drugs (legal or otherwise) and alcohol can cloud your judgment and will lead you into making decisions that you normally wouldn’t make. However, there is an elite third group out there who bet sports with one and only one purpose in mind?to make money. Watching ESPN and/or reading opinionated articles by sports writers on the Internet is not the proper way to do your homework. If you?re on medication, drugs, or alcohol, or if you?re just in an upset or disturbed mood, be smart and don?t play until you?re back to 100%.
Rule #4 ? DO NOT Play Parlays or Teasers ? Parlays, teasers, and other exotic wagers are offered for a reason
Three primaries this week will probably result in a solidification of the status quo in the GOP race to the nomination. In which case, we must acknowledge that there really are no original thoughts these days.. 20 for Santorum, who will continue to do well in the south, and a dozen or so for Romney.
Puerto Rico: 23 delegates are up for grabs in winner take all format, should the winner receive over 50 percent of the vote. Otherwise, Santorum will be competitive even though he is being outspent considerably in the Land of Lincoln. Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are non-factors in the race, at this point, though we suspect something interesting will happen in the Paul camp during the August convention. We remember it well. This will be the last gasp in the south for Alpha Team Gingrich, and we predict he will receive 10-12 delegates. Romney will do well in the urban north; Santorum, the rural south. Unless somebody else has beaten us to it. The Santorum team failed to get on the ballot in 4 of the districts, giving Romney a guaranteed 12 delegates before the voting begins. Our skilled handicappers tout the races this way: Puerto Rico, today, will go for Romney, Louisiana, Saturday, for Santorum, and Illinois, sandwiched between them on Tuesday, will be a draw.
By the end of next Saturday, then, the overall delegate tally should be something like 69 for Romney and 43 for Santorum. George Wallace country, as we recall… We officially dub Mitt Romney The Accidental Frontrunner, and we think it will stick. He has done so unequivocally, while Rick Santorum, with quite a petulant tone in his voice, is all peeved that not enough of them have learned English yet. Ah, Southern Illinois. When you encounter the moniker online, remember you heard it here first.
Illinois: 69 delegates will be awarded proportionally, 3 each per the 18 congressional districts, with the remaining 15 delegates awarded at-large and as party bonuses. Mitt Romney will likely do so, as he is in Full Campaign Mode of “promise them anything and deal with it later.” They want statehood, fine promise them statehood. Prediction: Romney, 34 delegates; Santorum, 23.
27 and March 9) this colt has undergone shock-wave therapy, which can be used to treat soft-tissue and bone ailments. Was that the case or did Dortmund simply out run him and have more…how do I say this…testicular fortitude?
“He knew he’d had a race last time, but he bounced out of it really well,” Callaghan added. Two, albeit he does possess quite a good bit of early speed and being he won that last race in wire to wire fashion, drawing the #1 post almost assures you he will be “on the engine” once again in this spot….strategically, it makes all the sense in the world for him to fire out of that post and be out there winging it on the early lead.
Champion Beholder is working towards a return to the races
We will be looking at two more races in this week’s Horse Racing Races of the Week. The first is the 2015 Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes on the all weather surface of Turfway Park in Florence, Kentucky on Saturday. It’s about as good as I’ve seen him train since I’ve had him.”
Director of Equine Operations and Development
All that being said, let me just add a quick note:
The results were the same…except this time, this horse took a clear lead at the eighth pole and it looked as though he had arch-rival Dortmund exactly where he wanted him. His aggressive gallops prompted rider Paul Eddery to use draw reins (for more leverage).
2) Royal Son- I’m not sure if it was the addition of blinkers or the change in surface (from dirt to synthetic) in his last race, but boy, he absolutely exploded in it. maidens on Jan 16 before improving to come back a little less than a month later and romping maidens while winning by almost seven lengths.
Saturday March 21, 2015
Horses who undergo the shock wave treatment in California must be put on the veterinarian’s list and are excluded from racing for 10 days. Trainer Bill Mott usually has them ready however (19% win clip off a 45 to 90 day layoff), goes first time Lasix and has a solid half mile work last week in tow…threat if he takes to the surface change…..Another Lemon Drop- will be making his synthetic surface debut but was visually impressive to watch in the last 3 ½ furlongs of his last race (Feb 26, Black Gold Stakes at the Fair Grounds) as he made up about seven lengths within that distance…if he can close with a rush like that on the turf, there is a fairly good chance he can do that on the synthetic also…could run well and at what might be some lofty odds as well.
Well bred colt (by Tiznow out of an A.P Indy mare) from the powerhouse Todd Pletcher barn has been rightfully installed (and will probably go off) as the betting favorite.
1) Firing Line- is not only clearly the horse to beat in this race, he is also a very serious 2015 Kentucky Derby contender especially based off last two races.
Callaghan added Firing Line is “an exuberant horse,” but that he’s “definitely gotten a lot more relaxed.” Eddery agreed, saying that Firing Line’s willingness to cooperate with the rider “is 10 times better now than two months ago.”
Plenty of speed signed up in this race which in turn should set him, and that big closing run he possesses, up very well.
Looking back two races ago, (Dec 20) in the Grade:1 Los Alamitos Futurity, this colt battled every step of the way thru wicked fractions (:45.4 and 1:09.3) only to lose a head bob to budding superstar Dortmund while finishing a mile and a sixteenth in a very strong 1:40.4 at 7/2 odds.
“He worked excellent today,” trainer Art Sherman said, “In the final work before Dubai, he looked awesome. He proved much the best in leading every step of the way to spring a five and half length upset in the John Battaglia Stakes at 9-1 over this very racetrack.
This good looking colt by Stormy Atlantic has also shown great versatility throughout his career as he’s run well on the front end, slightly off the pace and coming from well behind as well, so he should be fine with any pace scenario that presents itself on Saturday afternoon.
. …stretches out in distance, steps up in class but should be the on or close to the early lead and may prove hard to catch.
Obviously likes the surface and is in peak form right now…so he should run well on Sunday.
However, as I stated earlier, please take notice there are several other speed horses in this race (including the #3, #4, #12 and possibly the #9 horse), so the likelihood of him getting out there on an uncontested early lead, do not look promising….someone should be running with him early which might make him vulnerable/tired late….now tack on the fact that he’s being asked to go further than he’s ever gone before and you should come up with the recipe for a beaten favorite.
We will also be looking at the 2015 Sunland Park Derby on Sunday, which is a nine furlong contest for three year olds that carries a purse of $800,000 and drew a pair of Kentucky Derby hopefuls in Firing Line and Lord Nelson.
Distance: One and One Eighth Miles
3) Dirt Monster- has been on the board in all seven career starts including his last where he finished less than three lengths behind Where’s the Moon in the Mine That Bird Stakes…gets edge as best of the rest based on consistency alone.
Afterwards, jockey Gary Stephens said “My fault, I moved to early” (meaning he ran out of gas in deep stretch). Though the race is in New Mexico, all states are notified of such actions.

“The last one I worked like him was In Excess,” said Gary Stevens (who will be back aboard on Saturday), referring to the winner in 1991 of the Met Mile, Whitney, and Woodward. Allen Jerkens” width=”140″ height=”175″/>
The great H. “He’s been training awesome. “Today was meant to be easy, to get some air in her. If we wanted to light the board up, we could do that, and she’d be happy to do that if we asked, but that’s not how I train.”
3) Conquest Typhoon- has been on the board in six of seven lifetime starts and, although winless, he’s been on the board in all three synthetic track starts.
Dubai Sky- is intriguing as he’s shown tremendous heart while winning three of his four lifetime starts, including the $100,000 Kitten’s Joy Stakes in his last. Allen Jerkens
“If I knew where to place my horses, Secretariat would have retired with two more wins.” Jerkens used to say.
However, I’m going to try to beat him in this spot based on three things I saw …one, after running such a huge race his last time out, with a speed figure well above anything else he has run in any of his four previous starts, he is setup to bounce as high as the sky in this spot. Yet another well bred colt (by Pulpit out of a Seeking the Gold mare) but its looking more and more like he’s solely just a very good sprinter….Why Two-has yet to run a bad race in three starts including wiring the field as the 3-10 favorite in the $75,000 Turf Paradise Derby in his last….could better this rating….Malibu Mogul- is 2 for 2 (in sprints) on this track while recording very fast finishing times. Firing Line was due to come off the list Thursday. It was pretty impressive. He had been hospitalized for several weeks with an infection. The mile and one eighth test for three year old carries a $550,000 purse and will be spearheaded by Metaboss.
Twice in the past month (Feb. He was 85.
“It was tough, but you have to draw on the positives,” said Callaghan, “He had run two fantastic races to a proven good horse in Dortmund. “We could have run in the San Felipe if we wanted to, but we always had this race in the back of our mind.”
Just eight days later trainer Henry Rodriguez, who is winning at an astounding 28%, yet is 0 for 15 in graded stakes races, spun him around and entered him in the $100,000 Mine That Bird Stakes (a pre race for this race) where this colt came from behind to win by 2 1/2 at 13-1.
**** Two-time champion Beholder went an easy six furlongs in 1:14 last Friday morning, while still being pointed to the $350,000 Madison Stakes April 4 at Keeneland.
For Three Year Olds
Trainer Simon Callaghan then gave this bay by Line of David (Lion Heart), with a visually high cruising speed, some six weeks off and brought him back in the Feb 7 Robert B. He’s a lot stronger horse right now,” Sherman said. “You want to work in a minute; you think you’ve gone in a minute, and it turns out they went in 57. What happened in that final furlong is debatable as Dortmund wound up re-rallying and was able to put his head in front on the wire.
**** Hall of Fame trainer H. Lewis Stakes (also at a mile and a sixteenth) for a rematch with Dortmund.
Throughout his career Jerkens beat the great Kelso three times and the mighty Secretariat twice.
Since then he’s recorded three consecutive razor sharp works, for a trainer who wins at an outstanding 30% when he runs a horse back who was a beaten favorite his last time out and, perhaps most important, he gets the services of big money rider Mike Smith.
Distance: One and One Eighth Miles
“Everything has been perfect so far,” trainer Richard Mandella said.
**** 2014 Horse of the Year California Chrome had his last serious work last Friday before being sent half way around the world for a run in the $10 million Dubai Word Cup. Out on the track all alone, the big chestnut worked seven furlongs in a sharp 1:23 4/5, after completing the first six furlongs in an eye popping 1:10.4
2015- Record: 17-39 = 44%
Both Tiznow R J and Pain and Misery’s last races were too bad to be true, both/either could bounce back and run well in this spot….Lord Nelson is 3 for 3 in sprints but has yet to hit the board in any race he’s run that were at a one mile or more. Now whenever they want him to go in a minute, I get it in my head that I need to go 1:03.”

Jerkens won meet-leading trainer honors 14 times with four coming in New York and (in 1973) won the Eclipse Award for outstanding trainer.
For Three Year Olds
Moreover, he was beaten less than three lengths (as the betting favorite) to the top pick in the aforementioned El Camino Real Derby but take note….that was his first start in about 10 weeks, so you have to figure with normal improvement, he should be “tighter” for this race.
Firing Line continues to train very well as he’s registered four spirited works since the Robert Lewis (including three at five eights of a mile and of those three, two were in sub 1:00). The elephant in the room is all three wins (and all four starts) have been on the turf, plus this will be this son of Candy Ride’s first race in 56 days. Callaghan said it was done on Firing Line “to cover all the bases.”
This well bred gelding (Malibu Moon out of stakes winner Aldiza, by A.P Indy) finished a good closing third vs. They were fantastically run races in which he was narrowly beaten.”
2) Where’s the Moon- has improved leaps and bounds in his last three races with all three of those races coincidently coming over this surface.
Chestnut colt by Street Boss has logged three strong works since then which signals to me he is holding his form.

1) Metaboss- looked sensational while coming from the back of the pack to roll by the field on the far outside to win the El Camino Real Derby going away his last time out, which also happened to be his synthetic surface debut.
Jerkens, nicknamed “The Giant Killer” which was a name he didn’t care for, took out his training license in 1950 and got his first winner July 4 of that same year at Aqueduct with a horse named Populace.
A law against sports betting was developed in 1992, and it is usually referred to as the Bradley Act. On the other hand, betting on horses is almost always allowed anywhere online in the United States. Despite gambling issues, America is starting to accept online betting as a legal entertainment source that strengthens tax coffers. A loophole in this law mean that states that have casinos, like New Jersey, may be able to legalize gambling on sports in the near future. Overseas, the World Trade Organization is wondering why America will not comply with treaties that state all forms of betting will be legal in the United States.
As the tides are turning, organizations that are for and against gambling are making their way into news headlines. In Kentucky, 87% of voters think that gambling laws should be expanded. The executive director of this organization, Les Bernal, states that, “sports betting erodes the integrity of sports.” University of Illinois professor, John Warren, says that, “sports betting means crime, addiction, and costs for taxpayers.” Nonetheless, it appears that online betting on sports of any type may be legalized soon despite proponents for and against it.
The future of online sports betting
For example, USNews.com has quotes from proponents on the team sports gambling issue. The Southern Baptist Convention stands firm in saying that expanding gambling laws in Kentucky will negatively affect families.
However, after examining the outcome of online betting for major league sports in Europe, Asia, Canada, and Australia, American lawmakers are starting to wonder why they are forced to loose out on crucial gambling related revenue.
The fight against legalizing gambling
The state of gambling in the US
Throughout America, the big question is whether online sports betting in America should be legal. In particular, betting on sports like the NHL, NFL, NBA, and MLB are generally prohibited in all 50 states. Because it promotes tax dollars, some states are taking the issue of legalizing all forms of gambling to the Supreme Court.
Technically, some states already have the right to bet on any sports. Sadly, California lawmakers did not follow through on their promises until 2013. Nevertheless, there are plenty of voices that want to legalize betting online and offline for very different reasons.
Due to a troublesome past, the Federal government limits the types of betting that can be conducted. Also called the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, betting on sports was banned with the exceptions of Montana, Oregon, Delaware and Nevada.
In the state of Kentucky, Governor Steve Brashear is respectfully declining to honor the wishes of the Southern Baptist Convention in regards to banning gambling. Until then, internet service providers will be the reluctant gatekeepers to illegal and legal forms of online sports betting.
Contributing to this idea, a Kentucky organization called Stop Predatory Gambling says that current laws are already creating a “lottery class” of citizens with the one in five playing the game. Primarily, organized crime in the early 1900’s would often throw the games in order to keep money that gamblers placed on a certain sports team. All of the big changes were set to take place by May 2012. Their answers regarding whether sports betting in America should be legal may surprise you.
Reasons gambling should be legal
In other words, it is time for America to come to grips with sports betting online and offline. In particular, California State Senator, Roderick Wright, says, “Making sports betting legal protects bettors from fraud, theft.” Gary Payne from the International Sports Betting Association states, “Sports betting already happens; government might as well regulate it.”. The wheels of change may have been slow, but lawmakers will not be able to stall forever. Typically, the individual states can decide what types of gambling they want to allow online or offline with the exception of major league sports.
In 2010, the State of California was looking to expand betting laws. While working for TopBettingReviews.com as a website developer, I often wonder this myself. After all, some people do become addicts. Instead, the Kentucky Governor is interested in collecting gambling tax revenues

Though counting cards is not illegal, casinos frown upon it.
For the casino’s part, it would only say, “Mr. “But I knew with blackjack that there’s a way you can improve your odds. Play roulette, we know you don’t play craps, but hang out, we still want your presence and business.'”
He also made it clear that he didn’t have some sort of compulsive gambling problem.

Affleck also called reports that his wife, Jennifer Garner, was upset about his so-called gambling habit “tabloid s***. Affleck, a valued guest of Hard Rock Hotel Casino, is not banned from our property and is welcome back any time,” according to a statement.
“Usually they say, like, ‘He’s homeless!’ He’s good at blackjack! Well, I’ll take that,” he told Details.
While the Hard Rock did not throw him out of the casino, contrary to some reports, Affleck did say he’s no longer allowed to play blackjack there or in some other casinos.
Ben Affleck has no trouble admitting that he counted cards while playing blackjack in a Las Vegas casino.
Affleck, 42, is referring to the April incident at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, in which he was banned from playing the game.
